A delegation from the University of Edinburgh participated in robotics events in Japan. Prof. Sethu Vijayakumar gave an invited talk entitled “From Automation to Autonomy: Machine Learning for the Next Gen Robotics” at the International Symposium on Machine Intelligence for Future Society which showcased some of the results of the HARMONY project. During a visit to Kawada Robotics, Prof. Sethu Vijayakumar and Joao Moura gave a seminar on non-prehensile manipulation with a live demo on the Nextage Open robot, showcasing some of the project’s results in the process. Finally, the trip concluded with a visit to IREX, one of the largest automation and robotics exhibitions in the world, networking with the companies exhibiting there.
